What this site is
Every name here comes with a meaning, a pronunciation guide, native script where one exists, an era or region, and a warning when the name could read badly. Where readers say a name is everywhere, it carries an Overused flag and a list of fresher choices.
The tools run in your browser. There are no accounts, and the site is free. It is made by the fantasynames.art team.
Who it is for
It is made for web novel and webcomic writers, translators who need a consistent glossary, game masters, and readers who want to know what a name means or how to say it. Murim means the martial arts world of Korean stories. Cultivation stories follow people who train to gain power and long life. Rofan is short for romance fantasy.
How the data is made
Names are first generated by AI models. A second AI pass with web search then checks each entry. After that, automatic checks compare scripts and readings with the Unicode Unihan database, KANJIDIC2 and JMnedict, and screen names against a list of famous characters and trademarks and a list of vulgar or unlucky words. Entries with low confidence are not published.
No human linguist has reviewed the whole dataset yet, so errors may remain. The editorial standards page gives the full process and the audit results.
