How each title is put together
A title starts as a pattern: a sentence with empty slots. The slots are filled from short word lists written for the same genre. The pattern I Raised an Obsessive ___ Instead of the Real Male Lead can take a role such as Dragon Knight. Other slots take an adjective, a place, a goal or a twist, for example After Being Executed or For the Third Time.
Some patterns also use a first name from the romance fantasy name set. That gives shapes like Elena's Guide to Taming a Beastly Prince. Short two-part titles and long sentence titles sit side by side, so one hand of cards has different lengths.
Choose a genre first
The trope choices are romance fantasy, otome game (a romance video game, often one the heroine is stuck inside), murim (the martial arts world of Korean stories), hunter or system (stories with game-like ranks and levels), cultivation and academy. Each trope keeps only the patterns that fit it.
- Murim can give I Became the Trash Young Master of the Poison Clan.
- Hunter can give Solo Hunter with an Infinite Inventory.
- Academy and otome can give Please Don't Confess to Me, I Just Came to the Imperial Library to Read Grimoires.
Check before you publish
The sample titles are original. They are built fresh from patterns and word lists, not copied from a book. Still, this genre uses the same shapes again and again, so a new title can look a lot like one that already exists. Search the exact title in quotation marks before you use it, and change a word or two if you find a match.
